Hi, I’m Tim and I write My Passive Income Trial to chronicle the results of my attempts to set-up passive income streams. I hope that by providing an honest and accurate account of my successes and failures readers can learn from my mistakes and be inspired, in some way, to attempt their own passive income trials.
I started My Passive Income Trial in 2009 after reading The Four Hour Work Week and being inspired by The Smart Passive Income Blog.
Having been concerned about the security of my job for sometime it dawned on me that one way to alleviate such worry is to structure your income similar to the way you would build an investment portfolio. In the investment world asset-diversification is key to successful portfolio construction. The parallel with personal income is to have multiple potential income streams; this removes the reliance on a single source of income and hence the worry of that being taken away. However, to have multiple incomes(jobs) in a regular sense, you’d have to be superhuman. This is where the concept of passive income comes to the fore. The low-maintenance nature of well-constructed passive income creates the realistic possibility of achieving multiple income streams.
I live in the UK and currently have a full time job in finance. I’m not an expert on the internet, marketing or passive income. However, I intend to learn. And as I learn I intend to share my insights, thought and result with the readers of this blog. Hopefully it will become a useful resources for those looking to do the same.
I hope you pop by to read about my exploits as this project develops. Please feel free to bookmark the blog, use my RSS or Twitter feed.
Thanks!

Revenues to charity
My experiments with setting up passive income streams are intended to be educational and inspirational. I also hope there is will be an element of fun in the journey. More importantly there is no reason some why some ’social good’ shouldn’t come from any successes I have. With that in mind I’ve decided that each calendar quarter I’ll donate 5% of any revenue earned through the passive income trials I set up to charity, with the receiving charity being selected by the readers of this site.
